Back to work blues

I can bet that almost everyone felt a sense of relief last Friday, knowing that they had an extra day off for the August Bank Holiday…….I know i certainly did, I had planned my weekend, we had guests, the surf was looking good ( I live in Cornwall), the weather…well that was as British as it gets, sunny one minute, tipping it down the next!

My point is that one extra day off probably made your weekend, probably boosted your confidence without you even noticing!  Usually you get two days off (1 to recover from your week, the 2nd to recover from your hangover) then before you know it back to the grindstone, pushing paper around your desk, attending meetings for meetings sake, kissing corporate butt in hope of getting that long awaited promotion, that won’t come any time soon as we are in a recession  ….(why the fuel price rise then, you robbing B*stards??) Sorry to digress!

That extra little holiday will have helped recharge some batteries, go out with those friends you have been meaning to meet up with for ages, spend more time with your family, take a long weekend away,  or generally just relaxed and forget about your usual stresses & strains.

Relaxing or having even a little holiday can help your general health and wellbeing increase massively, you feel positive, you look forward to the plans you have made, you forget about that presentation or proposal you have coming up, you can just chill.

Holidays also lend themselves well to you making an effort to look good, if your heading to the beach you may start dieting a few weeks before hand to shed a few pounds, you have your hair done, you buy new clothes, new makeup and so on……this ones for the blokes….i’m hoping anyway, guys if you suffer from excess hair, you can have it waxed before you show all and sundry to the beach, you too can have a hair cut, buy new clothes and try and gain that six pack to show off!

Even if you acheive one of the above I can guarantee that you will feel better about yourself, if you feel better about yourself you feel more confident, with more confidence comes a happier you……..

And remember the best way to beat the post holiday blues is to book another trip away sometime soon!!

General Confidence

What is self-confidence?

A basic definition could be the ability to be yourself, to go anywhere, & try anything in a positive fashion without fear or embarrassment!

It can also be defined as the persuit of your dreams, the growth & nurturing of your talents and the self-esteem to believe that you deserve success!!

Building your confidence has dramatic implications for your:

  • Self Esteem, health & Wellbeing
  • Close Relationships
  • Family
  • Friendships
  • Working Life

Confidence is so much about how you think, there are many ways of thinking that can help propel you towards a more confident future!

Think of yourself as a winner - in any activity you undertake be that in the working environment, family life, sports field, social life, dating and so on.

View yourself as lucky, if you believe you are lucky the chances are you will be!

Don’t be a pessimist - Pessimistic pitfalls do not help anyone get ahead. (i can’t do it, i’m no good at that, she’ll never go for a bloke like me!!)

Optimism leads to great successes…….Let the good things that happen give the whole of your life an optimistic glow.

See yourself as a winner even in adversity..

These are just a few insights into confidence and how anyone can become a confident, successful individual, I will be sharing more ideas, insights, and general chat in the months to come…..

See you soon
